Time is flying!
Unless you're a rubber tree

Time is flying by! Isn’t it? Most people seem to be noticing that time is running faster and faster and faster. Something is happening out there in the universe that’s sped things up. We’re sure of it!

Why are we reflecting on this today? We were just doing some close calendar watching and Cindy realised that August 26th is already eight months since the big waves stirred the Andaman Sea shores. Eight months since the world learned the Japanese word for tidal wave. Eight months since the Tsunami made a clean sweep of the fishing villages and tourist shores of Southeast Asia.

The world heard so much about it that we don’t need to relive that watery fright. But thinking about it made Cindy look back at the Tsunami pictures she took over her three visits to southern Thailand after the waves receded. She has lots of devastation pictures but there’s no need for that. One of the things she learned in Phang Nga (north of Phuket and far worse hit) was about the rubber plantations. Her second post-Tsunami story for The Epoch Times was about the plight of the mostly illegal, Burmese migrant workers who were ignored by domestic and international aid efforts. Many of them work(ed) in the rubber plantations, tapping trees and such. So, for your viewing pleasure, here’s what tapping for rubber in southern Thailand looks like…

There's no cosmetic surgery that can cover up tapping scars.
