Bangkok Downtown Sky at Night

[Photo of the Day] Bangkok Downtown Sky at Night

Jan has been experimenting a lot with a with a new lens (Sigma 18-50 F2.8 DC EX) lately, and some of what it can do is quite amazing. This photo was taken, hand-held, under the cover of darkness. It's surprising what one can do with an F-stop of 2.8 -- for the uninitiated, this means that the lens lets a lot of light in, relatively speaking. Bangkok sports some amazing contrasts between ostentatious architecture and humble dwellings, some right next door to each other. We'll have to take some more photos to depict this, perhaps for a future Photo of the Day. This was image taken en-route to The Atlanta Hotel for a delicious meal, a must-visit when in Bangkok. A very eclectic yet warm atmosphere; we always feel very at home there.

Aah, the Atlanta. Definitely the best menu, if not the best food, in Bangkok.

Hey Cindy, I have convinced my parents to book a room at the Atlanta when they arrive in Bangkok but they really want to get some more travel and tourist info. Wanna drop them a line?

Milo is happy today and making baby noises. Keep up the good work you two!

I love the photo and am sad that I missed The Atlanta in my travels!

And the new lens looks like a lot of fun - can't wait to see more!!
