The Warsaw Uprising Remembered


Few people in the West know about the Warsaw Uprising, a bloody WWII battle in the City of Warsaw that cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Poles. The true details of this two-month rebellion against Nazi occupation were supressed in Poland by the Soviet-backed communist government, until after communism there fell in 1989.

In reference to the photo above, thousands of Boy Scouts, some of them in their teens, are believed to have died in the line of duty during the uprising. Recently, a museum on the subject was completed in Warsaw, designed to be interactive and appeal to younger audiences. It can be found here.
