In Warsaw After a Busy Month

It's been a busy month! We took some time to close up shop in Bangkok, spent a week visiting family in Toronto, another week working and conferencing in New York, and finally landed in Warsaw. Here are a few images, starting with the most recent, to give you a sense of where we are -- and where we've been:

The Communist icon, the Palace of Culture as seen from "Centrum" in downtown Warsaw

The "palace" was built in Warsaw under communist occupation, by Stalin as a way of reminding everyone who was really in charge. There was a lot of talk of demolishing it, but pragmatists argued convincingly that it was just too useful of a building to destroy and replace. The joke goes: Where can you get the best view in Warsaw? From the Palace of Culture. Why? Because you don't have to look at it.

In a typical airline lounge...the benefits of airmiles

Some not-so-light luggage to lug around...

Cindy and our sister Marysia pose for a shot (in Toronto)

Our nephew Brett and his dad Randy make some do spelling with pretzel sticks, as more sisters look on from behind

Oskar, our nephew by Polish standards, makes some moves
on the road to full bipedal mobility :)

To those who have been dedicated to The Long Trek Home and have been disappointed by our rather limited posting recently -- we're back! We look forward to keeping you on top of our activities very regularly.
