Don't Panic - Duo Unaffected by Bombs in Bangkok

Once again, we're seem to be at the epicentre of breaking bad news, but not to worry - we're A-OK.

We were out for a New Year's dinner with some friends, in a private room of a Japanese restaurant, when the cell phone calls and text messages starting arrving. It seemed much scarier initially. First we heard there were 2 bombs, then 4 more, no idea how many dead or injured.

Then we rushed home from dinner, interviewed 2 eye-witnesses and fired off the fastest article we've ever written. Check it out, hot off the presses...

The news so far is that there were 6 apparently coordinated blasts, that injured around 25 and killed 2. Creating havoc seems to be the biggest impact of the attacks since they were all in crowded, mostly downtown, areas as New Year's eve was kicking off. Because of the bombs the big parties have been cancelled and other venues closed. Right now there must be thousands of people wondering the streets of Bangkok with a stunned look and no party to go to.

20 min to New Year's in Bangkok and counting...

A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU ALL!!!

PHEW!!!

I'm so relieved to hear that you guys are okay. I knew the odds were against you actually being injured, but it's just really nice to know that all is still well and good in your world. (Um, minus the odd bomb or two. Or six.)

Jan, Milo sends his belated thanks for the wonderful postcard you sent. And Cindy, don't you have something important you need to do in Vancouver sometime soon? Like, say, visit US??? It's been too long. Milo's almost in college, for goodness sake!

All kidding aside, I wish you guys every happiness for the new year.

Much love,

Erin

p.s. Come visit.
