Cousin Joe and the Negev

Finally...the photos you've all been waiting for! Here is our very own Cousin Joe, native to Be'er Sheva, the gateway to the Negev Desert. And with him...Cousin Jan, visiting for a couple of days.

Joe seems to have quite the green thumb. Jan was given a detailed tour of the garden, which included flowers, an artichoke bush, and citrus trees.

Cousin Joe was an absolutely excellent host, taking alot of time out of his day to give Jan a genuine cook's tour. Highlights of the tour included a drive around Be'er Sheva as well as a nearby Bedouin village, and a visit to the complex concrete symbolism of the Negev Brigade Memorial, which pays homage to an Israeli military unit that distingushed itself in the war for Israel's independence.
