ABDUCTION: At a Theater Near (Some of) You
We decided to jon the throngs of critics in promoting an amazing new documentary film that's been winning awards acorss the globe... And now its earned a featured mention on our blog.
ABDUCTION: The Megumi Yokota Story directed by Cindy's good friend from university, Chris Sheridan, and his fabulous wife (and now good friend), Patty Kim.
It's a compassionately told story of a Japanese couple's fruitless, three-decade effort to rescue their daughter who was abducted by North Korean spies when she was only 13-years-old.
Truth be told, neither of us have had the opportunity to see the masterpeice yet, but considering the great press they've been getting, that they won the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary at Slamdance Film Festival among other awards, and that Chris and Patty appeared live on CNN's "American Morning" last Friday, we feel confident it recommending it to you. The story made big press in Asia but not as much in North America but now everyone will know it.
The film is showing in Toronto at the Hot Docs Film Festival April 29 (hurry!) and May 1. Then at film festivals in Baltimore (May 11-14), Atlanta (June 9-17), and Sydney (June 9-25).
