Shou Fu's Story

Since being repatriated to the USA, our good friend Li Weixun (nicknamed Shou Fu) has been very vocal about the events that led her to become a refugee in Thailand, and now in the US, in the first place. The Epoch Times picked up her story, which has now been published as The Story of Li Weixun, a Legendary Woman, and Her Family.

To provide a little background, we moved into a little workers' community hidden amidst the bustle of central Bangkok, just minutes from the famed Lumpini Park and the location of the main local Falun Gong practice site. Shou Fu was our neighbour, and we spent just about every day together for at least a small amount of time. When her son arrived several months ago, we could communicate more easily, as he spoke English alongside Mandarin -- but this had never really been an issue, as Shou Fu's actions always bespoke of her wonderful, kind heart.

Cindy saw her recently in New York City, and when they saw each other they stared for a moment in near-disbelief, and then embraced for a long time. After three years of waiting, with an uncertain future (Thailand doesn't officially guarantee safety for United Nations refugees there), Shou Fu finally has a real home again. She is living in Vienna, Virginia.
