New Year's Greetings!
The new year has arrived, and even though our friends are still in detention in Bangkok, some New Year's greetings are in order.
A few of us got together and had a delicious Chinese style-dinner, all home-cooked of course.
All of the small streets (soi) in Bangkok converted into party mode for a night, with delicious food, deafening karaoke, and yes, abundant alcohol. Apparently the karaoke went on until 4am, but those of you who know yours truly probably are aware that I was fast asleep by then.
The children at the party stayed up unusually late as well, and there was alot of laughter, though much less than we would have liked, I think. Nana's mom is one of the practitioners still in detention.
Of course, there are many people in the world who are experiencing all sorts of difficulties, some of them much more severe than what is happening here in Bangkok. Here I'll take a moment to wish all of the oppressed people of the world, especially those being silenced and persecuted under totalitarian rule a speedy resolution of their situations. May this coming New Year see Truth and Benevolence grow and continue to erode away the power of those who would seek to hurt the innocent, and those who would seek to hurt in general. Humanity deserves better than that!
